New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday extended his greeting on the occasion of Holi. Modi took to Twitter to convey his best wishes to everyone. Modi said “May this festival infuse new vigour and energy in the lives of everyone.

Home Minister Amit Shah extended his warm greetings on Holi by saying, “Hearty greetings to everyone on the auspicious occasion of Holi. May this festival of colour, unity and goodwill bring peace, happiness and good luck to everyone. (Rough translation from Hindi).

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also took to Twitter to extend his greetings on Holi. He said, “Greetings to everyone on the occasion of Holi. May this festival of colours bless you with happiness, health & prosperity.”

The colourful extravaganza festival of Holi is widely celebrated not just in India but around the world. The festival which is regarded as the victory of good over evil is celebrated for 2 days.

While the first day is celebrated as Holika Dahan, the second day is Rangwali Holi/Dhulandi/Dhuleti where people play with colours. This year Holika Dahan was celebrated on March 28 while Holi is being celebrated on March 29. On the auspicious occasion of Holika Dahan, people gather around a bonfire and sing various songs.
