    Gujarat BJP Legislature Party Meet LIVE Updates: Day after Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani resigned, the state BJP legislature party on Sunday chose Bhupendra Patel to take over the reins of the state.

    Union Minister and BJP’s central observer for Gujarat, Narendra Singh Tomar and party’s National General Secretary, Tarun Chugh were in Gujarat along with Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Pralhad Joshi, BJP’s general secretary (organisation) BL Santhosh and Union Cabinet Minister for Environment Bhupendra Yadav for the legislature party meet.

    “I want to thank BJP for giving me this opportunity to serve as Gujarat’s CM. During my tenure, I got the opportunity to add to the development of the state under PM Modi’s leadership,” Vijay Rupani said in Gandhinagar after stepping down from the post. Rupani has said he will continue to serve the party under the national leadership.

    As the BJP goes into huddle, the names that have emerged as probables include Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel, Union Health Minister Mansukh Madaviya, Lakshadweep administrator Praful Patel, state Cabinet minister RC Faldu and Gujarat BJP chief CR Paatil.

    Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) National General Secretary in charge of organisation BL Santosh is currently camping in Ahmedabad to see the transfer of power and the election of a new chief minister. Union Minister Bhupendra Yadav is also in Ahmedabad to oversee the change of guard.

    Rupani became the chief minister of Gujarat in August 2016 when the then CM Anandiben Patel had stepped down from his position.

    An announcement on the new chief minister is expected soon. Gujarat State President CR Patil to hold a press conference in Ahmedabad.
