New Delhi: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday (June 11) issued an orange alert for 11 districts in Madhya Pradesh. The weather body said that these districts will experience heavy rains along with thunderstorms as the southwest Monsoon advances northwards.
Parasia area of Chhindwara in central India received the highest rainfall 90.1mm rainfall in the last 24 hours, according to the senior meteorologist PK Saha of IMD Bhopal.
After covering Jabalpur and Hoshangabad divisions, large parts of Indore and Shahdol divisions, and parts of Bhopal and Sagar divisions, the southwest monsoon is advancing to other parts of the state.
These alerts are valid till Saturday morning, it was stated.
The IMD has said that winds up to 30-40 km/ph accompanied by heavy rains, thunderstorms, and lightning.
It also added that Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Bihar will witness heavy rainfall.
Furthermore, Ghats districts of Maharashtra and coastal Karnataka will continue to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall during the next 4-5 days.
