India Records 2,202 New Covid Cases, 11% Lower Than Previous Day

The daily positivity rate stood at 0.59% while the weekly positivity rate was recorded as 0.66%

New Delhi: India reported 2,202 new Covid-19 cases, 27 deaths and 2,550 recoveries made in the last 24 hours. The cumulative Covid-19 vaccine doses administered in the country crossed 191.4 crore, the Union Health Ministry said.

The daily positivity rate stood at 0.59% while the weekly positivity rate was recorded as 0.66%

Delhi on Sunday recorded 613 new Covid cases and three more deaths, while the positivity rate was 2.74 per cent, according to data shared by the health department.

The city had on Saturday recorded 673 new Covid cases and four deaths, the highest single-day fatality in over two months. It had logged three Covid deaths on March 7 and four fatalities due to the disease on March 4.

Chhattisgarh on Sunday had a COVID-19 clean slate day as no case or death was reported in the state, the feat being achieved for the fifth time since April, an official said.

Karnataka on Sunday reported 126 fresh COVID-19 cases, taking the total infections to 39,49,675 so far, while there were zero fatalities, the Health Department said.

Maharashtra on Sunday reported 255 fresh COVID-19 cases and one fatality, taking the tally to 78,80,840 and the toll to 1,47,855, the state health department said.

Mumbai on Sunday reported 151 COVID-19 cases and one death, taking the tally here to 10,61,614 and the toll to 19,566, a civic official said.

Tamil Nadu on Sunday logged 30 new COVID-19 infections, pushing the tally to 34,54,621 till date. The death toll remained unchanged at 38,025 with zero fatalities recorded in the last 24 hours.

Chennai accounted for 16 new infections, Chengalpet recorded seven, Coimbatore and Tiruchirappalli recorded two each while Cuddalore, Sivagangai and Tiruvallur saw one case each.
