New Delhi: BJP National General Secretary Arun Singh on Thursday (June 10) said that there were no plans to remove BS Yediyurappa s the Chief Minister of Karnataka after reports emerged that the BJP high-command may be looking to replace him.

“Yediyurappa is the CM and will remain CM. He has down god worked during the second wave of COVID-19 pandemic, all the ministers did a good job during the pandemic,” said Singh to reporters.

Arun Singh will fly to Karnataka tomorrow where he will stay for three days and hold meetings with several BJP leaders amid reports that several MLAs and ministers in the state were unhappy with the leadership in the state.

On the statement given by Yediyurappa of tendering his resignation if the high command asks, Singh said, “Everyone in BJP believes in the high command…. The state leadership of the BJP has full trust in the top leadership and often take their guidance from them so I see nothing wrong in the statement given by him”.

He also said that the MLAs who had grievances against the state leadership shouldn’t have raised these issues in public.

“If someone has a grievance, we will go and talk to them but no one should give a public statement. Those who have given will be asked for an explanation of their actions,: he added.

However, Opposition leader Siddaramaiah said that the Yediyurappa was a poor CM and that there is no fire without smoke.

He added that it was BJP’s own MLAs that were demanding the resignation of the current CM.

“I was told that there were rumblings in Delhi regarding leadership change. If there were no discussions on leadership change, why hasn’t the BJP High Command not taken action against MLAs like Basanagowda Yatnal, Arvind Bellad, Vishwanath, Renukacharya and Minister Yogeshwar,” asked Siddaramaiah.

He also accused both Yediyurappa and BJP high command to be weak in nature.
