Indian Security Forces, who have begun an anti-terror operation in Jammu and Kashmir, have continued to flush out terrorists in the valley amid a spate of civilian killings in Jammu and Kashmir with at least 36 killed so far in the Union territory.
More than a dozen encounters have taken place so far in which 36 people died. As per Indian Army, out of these 14 militants were neutralised, sadly these also led to 10 civilian deaths and nine army jawans were martyred while on duty.
On Oct 19, General MM Naravane visited forward areas of White Knight Corps in Kashmir and undertook a first-hand assessment of the situation along the Line of Control. COAS Narvane was briefed by commanders on the ground about the present situation and ongoing counter-infiltration operations.
The fighting in the 10 km stretch of the thick forest has continued despite a massive combing operation by the security forces, a tight cordon and intense shelling.
As the ongoing counter-terrorism operation progresses in the Poonch district, the Indian Army special forces have been deployed to search and target small groups of terrorists hiding in the thick forests there.
