Kerala Records 12,118 New COVID-19 Cases as Positivity Rate Remains Over 10 Per Cent

Kerala had reported 11,546 new cases, 12,699 recoveries, and 118 deaths on Friday.

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala on Saturday (June 26) reported 12,118 new COVID-19 cases as the positivity rate in the state remained over 10 per cent. 11,124 recoveries were reported in the same period while 118 people succumbed to the virus in the past 24 hours. Active cases in the state rose from  1,00,230 on Friday to 1,01,102 on Saturday. Kerala had reported 11,546 new cases, 12,699 recoveries, and 118 deaths on Friday.

The Test Positivity Rate in the state stood at 10.66 per cent.

With these additions, the total case tally in the state rose to 28,77,989.

Thiruvananthapuram reported the highest number of cases at 1,522  followed by Ernakulam (1,414), Malappuram (1,339), and Thrissur (1,311).

1,13,629 samples were tested by the state on Saturday.

The number of people under observation in the state rose from 3,92,633 on Friday to 3,96,863 on Saturday.

People under treatment for the virus in hospitals rose from 25,983 on Friday to 26,298  on Saturday.

Of the new cases, 66 are health workers, 59 had come from outside the state and 11,394 were infected through contact, a government press release said.

Meanwhile, India on Saturday (June 25) reported 48,698 cases down from 51,667 COVID-19 cases reported a day earlier.

The cases were fewer by more than 2900 cases as a fall of 2969 cases was reported in the last 24 hours, according to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

As many as 1,183 deaths were reported, lower than 1,329 deaths reported a day earlier while recoveries stood at 64,818 patients higher than 64,527 recoveries reported a day earlier.

The total recoveries in the country now stand at 2,91,93,085 patients on Saturday morning.
