Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala received a bran new stock of 5.38 lakh Coronavirus vaccine doses on Saturday, informed the state health department.

“The state has received 5.38 lakh doses of COVID vaccine. Out of which, 1,88,820 doses of Covishield was purchased by the state and 3.5 lakh Covshield doses have been allotted by the Centre,” said Kerala health minister Veena George.

The minister also added that the COVID-19 vaccines were ordered through Kerala State Medical Service Corporation Limited and are getting distributed in different districts of the state.

As per the state health ministry, Kerala received a total of 1,10,52,440 doses of coronavirus vaccine jabs. Out of this, the state government purchased 10,73,110 doses of vaccine, including 1,37,580 doses of Covaxin and 9,35,530 doses of Covshield.

The Centre has provided a total of 99,79,330 doses of coronavirus vaccine to Kerala, including 9,44,650 doses of Covaxin and 90,34,680 doses of Covishield, said the state health ministry.

Kerala reported 13,832 new COVID cases on Saturday taking the total caseload in the state to 26,86,630.

COVID-19 India Update

In a major feat in the fight against the deadly COVID-19, India continued to report less than 1 lakh daily new cases of the novel coronavirus cases, for the sixth consecutive day on Sunday (June 13, 2021), as new cases fell to below 81,000 infections. According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the country recorded 80,834 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, the lowest in almost 71 days. The cases were down by 3,498 new infections as compared to the previous day when 84,332 Covid-19 cases reported on Saturday.

The country saw discharges outnumbering new coronavirus cases on June 13 as well, with 1,32,062 patient discharges in the last 24 hours. The numbers were lower than the previous day’s high of 1,21,311 patients who were discharged on June 12.

This took the total number of patients discharged so far stood at 2,80,43,446 cases, as of Sunday.

On the vaccination front, 25,31,95,048 doses of Covid-19 vaccines have been administered so far in the country, the ministry data showed on June 13 morning. Out of these, 34,84,239 doses were given in the last 24 hours.
