New Delhi: Superstar Rajinikanth received the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award at the National Film Awards ceremony held in New Delhi on Monday. After receiving the honours, he dedicated the honour to his mentor and late film director K Balanchander. Rajinikanth was accompanied by his wife Latha Rajinikanth, daughter Aishwarya, son-in-law and actor Dhanush and his grandchildren to the ceremony.

The actor, a matinee idol for ages and popularly called Thalaivar (leader in Tamil) was bestowed with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, Indian cinema’s highest honour for an artiste, for the year 2019.

Rajinikanth on Monday launched his daughter Soundarya’s voice-based social media platform – Hoote – offering 60-second live voice recording option or to upload a recorded voice in 15 Indian and 10 foreign languages, of choice.

The new app is said to take the social media by storm, as it hopes to “emotionally” connect iconic leaders with their fans in their own voices and native tongue. “Hoote is the sound the owl makes and white owl is considered as a symbol of wisdom and hence the name,” Soundarya Rajinikanth, who co-founded the app with Sunny Pokala, said.

Announcing the official launch of Hoote, Soundarya claimed the app is India’s first voice-based social media platform for the world, from Chennai.
