Kolkata: Actor-turned-Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Mimi Chakraborty on Saturday fell ill, a few days after she was administered a fake COVID vaccine.

Chakraborty became seriously ill at her residence in the morning and her maid called the family physician, sources close to the renowned actor said.

The doctor who attended to the Jadavpur MP said it was too early to link her illness with the fake jab that she had taken four days ago.

The actor, who has been suffering from gall bladder and liver-related problems, suffered from dehydration, stomach ache and her blood pressure count dipped.

‘Mimi Chakraborty’s condition is now stable and she is under treatment at her home. She is also suffering from hypertension. The doctor who attended to her said her illness cannot be immediately linked to the fake vaccine as she already had a liver problem,” the sources said.

In a video message on Thursday, she had asked people not to panic.

Earlier on Wednesday (June 23) Chakraborty claimed to have been duped by a man who posed as an IAS officer and requested her to be present at a COVID-19 vaccination drive organised by him in Kolkata.

The TMC MP said she had attended the drive and even got herself inoculated to encourage people to take the COVID-19 vaccine to contain the spread of the virus.

Based on a complaint by Chakraborty the Kolkata Police has arrested a man identified as Debanjan Dev who had approached Chakraborty posing as an IAS officer.

“He said that he was running a special drive for transgenders and specially-abled persons and requested for my presence,” the MP said. She added that the accused was using a car with a blue beacon fake sticker.

”I took Covishield vaccine at the camp to motivate people for taking jabs. But I never received a confirmation message from CoWIN,” she said.
