The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) launched a Global Housing Technology Challenge India (GHTC-India) and an enrolment module for TECHNOGRAHIS. Durga Shanker Mishra, Secretary MoHUA kicked off the module via a video conference on Tuesday (February 16), in Delhi. TECHNOGRAHIS is a module for students and faculty from IITs, NITs, engineering colleges, planning and architecture colleges, builders, academicians, engineers and stakeholders – where they can register themselves to visit these Live Laboratories at six Light House Projects sites for learning, consultation, generation of ideas and solutions, experimentation, innovation and technical awareness.

These sites located in Indore (Madhya Pradesh); Rajkot (Gujarat); Chennai (Tamil Nadu); Ranchi (Jharkhand); Agartala (Tripura) and Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) are live laboratories where the Centre has initiated Global Housing Technology Challenge India (GHTC-India). The challenge aims to identify and mainstream globally best available proven construction technologies that are sustainable, green and disaster-resilient as well as provide ideas for affordable housing.

Each LHP site will have about 1000 houses with allied infrastructure facilities. These LHPs will demonstrate world-class innovative construction technologies and deliver ready-to-live houses within twelve months, as compared to conventional brick and mortar construction, and will be more economical, sustainable, of high quality and durability.

The projects will have 5 functional incubation centres and the enrollment module will attract and create the database for interested candidates throughout the year.

“Let’s enrol ourselves as Technograhis and build a New India,” Secretary, MoHUA, said, adding that the Ministry will conduct a series of activities to create wide-scale knowledge dissemination and awareness in the country regarding the use of innovative technologies through LHPs.
