New Delhi: On the first day of the winter session, Parliament passed the Farm Laws Repeal Bill, 2021 without discussion. Rajya Sabha has been witnessing ruckus for the past two days as Opposition leaders protested against suspension of 12 MPs for the rest of the session. The MPs were suspended over “unruly” behaviour in the previous session.
The winter session, which convened on Monday, is scheduled to conclude on December 23. Lok Sabha discussed the “Covid-19 pandemic and various aspects related to it” on Thursday, the fourth day of the ongoing winter session of Parliament.
The discussion, held under rule 193, holds significance amid rising concerns over the new Covid-19 variant Omicron being reported in many countries. The new Omicron variant was first reported to the World Health Organization (WHO) by South Africa on November 24.
