New Delhi: On the occasion of the 125th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled a hologram statue of the freedom fighter at India Gate in New Delhi. The hologram statue is a placeholder until a granite statue is installed at the site.

The prime minister also conferred the ‘Subhas Chandra Bose Aapda Prabandhan Puraskar’ for the years 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022 in the investiture ceremony. A total of seven awards were presented during the ceremony.

Earlier in the day, PM Modi tweeted “At a time when the entire nation is marking the 125th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, I am glad to share that his grand statue, made of granite, will be installed at India Gate. This would be a symbol of India’s indebtedness to him.”

In the first, Republic Day celebrations have begun from January 23 instead of January 24, in order to include the birth anniversary of late freedom fighter Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. It will end on January 30, the day Mahatma Gandhi was assassinated.

The hologram statue will be powered by a 30,000 lumens 4K projector. An invisible, high gain, 90 per cent transparent holographic screen has been erected in such a way so that it is not visible to visitors. The 3D image of Netaji will be projected on it to create the effect of a hologram. The size of the hologram statue is 28 feet in height and 6 feet in width, according to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 21 announced that the grand statue of the iconic freedom fighter Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose will be installed at India Gate as a symbol of India’s indebtedness to him.

The grand statue of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose will be carved by sculptor Adwaita Gadanayak and his team. He is well known for his famous black marble masterpiece of Mahatma Gandhi walking with a stick in his hand symbolising the famous Dandi March installed at Rajghat in New Delhi

Born on January 23, 1897, Netaji played a crucial role in India’s freedom movement. Subhas Chandra Bose had also established the Azad Hind Fauj. The Indian government last year declared that Subhas Chandra Bose’s birth anniversary will be celebrated as ‘Parakram Diwas’ every year.
