AAIMS Director Randeep Guleria on Monday (March 1) said that the people will get confidence and get over their vaccine hesitancy after Prime Minister Narendra Modi took the first dose of the COVID vaccine.
Guleria said that the Prime Minister’s action will go a long way in helping the COVID vaccination drive in the country whose second phase has begun on Monday.
He said “All over 60 yrs of age & those above 45 yrs with comorbidities must take vaccine. It’s the only way to come out of pandemic.”

The Prime Minister has taken the vaccine made by Bharat Biotech which has given the emergency use authorisation before the results of its third phase trials were published. Guleria believes this will help in reassuring people that both vaccines (the other being Oxford’s Covishield) are safe.
He was referring to the doubts that were raised against Covaxin’s efficiency due to the lack of the third phase results which he says ‘have been laid to rest today’.
