New Delhi: Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader and former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has been detained by Renigunta police at Tirupati airport on Monday (March 1, 2021) while he was going to attend an election campaign in the Chittoor district ahead of the municipal elections in the state.
After police denied him permission to leave the airport, Naidu registered his protest by sitting on the floor. The police officials stationed at the Tirupati airport later released a letter to Naidu, saying that they have no information about any permission given to him.
We will not be stopped.
We will not be silenced.
Your fear-driven, state-sponsored vendetta won't stop me from reaching out to my people.

Naidu posted a video on Twitter and said, ” We will not be stopped. We will not be silenced. Your fear-driven, state-sponsored vendetta won’t stop me from reaching out to my people. ”
The TDS is saying that they have taken permission from the Election Commissioner but the police say otherwise. Meanwhile, the TDP is alleging the government of a political vendetta as they repeatedly clarified they have permission from the EC.
The letter released by the police also mentioned the second wave of COVID-19 along with the upcoming municipal elections in the state.
