New Delhi: The new Punjab Cabinet has been finalised and will take oath at 4.30 pm on Sunday. The decision comes after Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi met Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in Delhi on Friday.
At least seven fresh faces are likely to find place in the Channi-led cabinet and five MLAs who were ministers in the Amarinder Singh government are likely to be dropped, PTI quoted its sources as saying.
“I will meet Ministers, MLAs and other political office bearers at my office every Tuesday from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm and a Cabinet meeting will be held every Tuesday at 3:00 pm. I’ve also directed all the officers not to leave the office till the cabinet is going on,” wrote the chief minister in a Twitter post.
The development comes hours after Channi returned from Delhi having held a final round of discussion with the party high command on the faces to be included in the new cabinet.
Channi was summoned to Delhi by the Congress high command on Friday to discuss the cabinet expansion. The visit came within hours of him returning from the national capital.
