New Delhi: Pushkar Singh Dhami became the youngest Chief Minister of Uttarakhand when he took his oath on Sunday (July 4). The 45-year-old was elected as the CM in the BJP legislature meet on Saturday which was attended by the state MLAs.
Dhami retained the outgoing CM Tirath Singh Rawat’s cabinet.
State BJP President Madan Kaushik is also a veteran in state politics. Kaushik was parliamentary affairs minister in Trivendra Singh government when he as shifted to the organisation in the March reshuffle.
He swapped placed with another senior leader Banshidhar Bhagat who became the senior most minister in Tirath Singh cabinet.
Tirath Singh Rawat whom Dhami replaced had retained the entire cabinet that he got from Trivendra Singh Rawat.
Most of the ministers in the state cabinet are senior and politically more experienced than Dhami.
Several ministers have also joined the BJP from Congress and have their own experience while being a part of the Congress-led government in the hill state.
Some MLAs like Satpal Maharaj have also served in the Union council while some have experience of being MLAs and ministers in the undivided Uttar Pradesh.
It also remains to be seen whether these ministers with their years of experience will be comfortable working under such a young Chief Minister who has never even served as a minister in the state government and it is something that will be closely watched.
