New Delhi: The Supreme Court of India on Friday dismissed the plea to postpone NEET-PG 2022 Examination, saying the move will create chaos and uncertainty. Observing that it will impact patient care and will cause prejudice to over 2 lakh students who have prepared for the NEET-PG 2022 exam, the court further said postponing will create a deficiency of doctors in hospitals.

Over 2.06 lakh doctors have registered, and they will be put to prejudice if the exam is further postponed, ruled the SC.

The original schedule for NEET 2022-23 had to be revised due to pandemic exigencies. The petitioners and similarly placed doctors have participated in the counselling process for NEET-PG 2021. They were not barred from registering for NEET-PG 2022.

Students of NEET-PG on May 3 had moved to reach out to the Supreme Court of India in a request to postpone the NEET-PG entrance exam by at least two months, in the view of the ongoing counselling process for the 2021 entrance exams.

Even other medical bodies have also urged Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandavia to defer the exams to July. In a separate letter by the student, the association has mentioned that the counselling for the NEET-PG for the session 2021 is still under process but the registration process for the entrance exam for session 2022 has already been scheduled from April 6 to May 7.
