Singer KK’s Mortal Remains Reach Mumbai; Funeral To Take Place On June 2

The singer had reportedly collapsed at his hotel after which he was taken to the CMRI Hospital where he was declared dead.

New Delhi: The mortal remains of singer Krishnakumar Kunnath, well known as KK arrived in Mumbai. He died on May 31, 2013, at the age of 53, following a live performance at Kolkata’s Nazrul Mancha theatre. The police told ANI had preliminary findings of the post-mortem conducted after KK’s death indicate that his death was caused by a cardiac arrest. The singer had reportedly collapsed at his hotel after which he was taken to the CMRI Hospital where he was declared dead.

KK was taken to the hospital at around 10 pm in the night after he complained of uneasiness. He was feeling heavy after reaching the hotel after the performance and soon collapsed. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The autopsy was conducted at SSKM Hospital in Kolkata on Wednesday to ascertain the cause of death.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also condoled the death of the singer and said, “KK will always be remembered through his songs. His songs reflected a wide range of emotions and struck a chord with people of all age groups. We will always remember him through his songs. Condolences to his family and fans. Om Shanti.”

The cremation will take place on 2 June, according to reports.
