New Delhi: The Sanyukt Kisan Morcha on Wednesday may soon call off the farmers’ protest after 12 months of agitation in the capital region. The farmers’ body, which was constituted last year in November, said that it has received a new government proposal, and will make a final call on ending the year-long protest soon, according to sources in SKM.
According to the latest developments, the Centre had sent a fresh letter in which they said that they are ready to accept all demands of farmers. A Five-member SKM team was currently discussing the matter in Delhi and details will be announced at 2 pm on the decisions taken.
Reacting to the government’s latest letter farmer leader Gurnam Singh Charuni said that farmers are waiting for timeline for the withdrawal of cases. “Farmers’ protests will continue until after Government accepts all of our demands… It would be problematic for us if we withdraw our protest, but they don’t take back the cases. Govt should announce a timeline for the withdrawal of cases, ” said farmer leader Gurnam Singh Charuni in Delhi.
