Tapan Kumar Deka Appointed New IB Director; RAW Chief Samant Goel Gets 1-Yr Extension

Deka has been appointed as DIB for a tenure of two years.

New Delhi: Senior IPS officer Tapan Kumar Deka was on Friday appointed as the Director Intelligence Bureau (DIB). He has been appointed as DIB for a tenure of two years from the date of assumption of the charge of the post or until further orders, whichever is earlier, the government said.

Deka, who has been handling the operations wing of the IB, took over from Arvind Kumar whose extended tenure ends on June 30. He is a 1988 batch officer from the Himachal Pradesh cadre.

Further, Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) chief Samant Goel was given an extension for a period of one year beyond his present tenure up to June 30, 2023. Goel is a 1984-batch Punjab cadre IPS officer.
