The Real Changemakers: From A Modest Beginning To One Of The Most Loved Bakeries, Mariam Mohuideen Shares Her Journey

Mariam Mohuideen's cakes are made from scratch and are without preservatives. She also started the food section, after her son, who was doing hotel management, joined in with his friend.

Mariam Mohuideen joined us on this week’s episode of ‘The Real Changemakers‘ on India Ahead. Mariam, who moved to Mangalore from Dubai at the age of 48, started her cooking and baking classes following her passion. She then opened a small shop which later turned bigger. She now has a 90-seater bakery called Baker’s Treat.

From four-five items, which she initially made, she started increasing the items in the menu based on customer’s preferences. She says that she sends her Oreo Nutella Cheesecake abroad too. Her cakes are made from scratch and are without preservatives. She also started the food section, after her son, who was doing hotel management, joined in with his friend.

Mariam says she always wanted to have an identity for herself for many years. When baking happened to her, she moved out of her comfort zone and took up challenges as they came.

She says her bakery also makes cakes keeping in mind the health concerns and needs of the clients. She has a huge client base, from youngsters to families, and is overwhelmed by the love and support she has received.

The baker has a word of advice for those who want to run a successful bakery. She says that one has to be passionate and focused to run a bakery.

On being asked about her favourite dessert, she reveals that though she loves Indian sweets like payasam, pound cake is her favourite when it comes to cakes.
