The Real Changemakers: Mala Chinnappa Uses Art To Help Children With Special Needs

Mala founded ABWA, which stands for 'A Brush With Art' for children with special needs. The ABWA showcases the artwork of neurodiverse children through exhibitions.   

Artist Mala Chinnappa joined India Ahead on the debut show of ‘The Real Changemakers’. Mala is the founder of ABWA, which stands for A Brush With Art’ for children with special needs. The ABWA showcases the artwork of neurodiverse children through exhibitions.   

Mala spoke exclusively with India Ahead about her business entity. ABWA is a program that she started six years ago to provide one-on-one art classes to children with special needs. 

In order to teach young children in a subtle manner, Mala Chinnappa, with her expertise in design, art and aesthetics, led ABWA with a deep knowledge of arts and culture.   

According to Mala Chinnappa, every child with autism is unique and should be taught individually. She spoke about her experience with the children and about children’s choices of art and design.
