Top JeM Commander Gunned Down In South Kashmir Firefight

Police Officials told India Ahead News that acting on a specific tip off about the presence of militants in the area, a joint Cordon and Search Operation was launched by security forces in Wagad Tral.

Jammu & Kashmir: Top commander of militant outfit Jaish-e-Mohammad Sham Sofi has been killed in an operation which mounted in Wagad village of Tral town in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Wednesday.

Police Officials told India Ahead that acting on a specific tip off about the presence of militants in the area, a joint cordon and search operation was launched by security forces in Wagad Tral. The security forces while searching the area came under firing by militants which turned into an encounter. They said that in an ensued gunbattle one militant was gunned down, who as per police is one of the Top JeM Commander operating in Tral.

Meanwhile, it is the seventh operation against militants in Kashmir Valley in the past six days. Post a spate of civilian target, security forces were able to kill nine militants in the valley so far, most of which belonged to the TRF outfit.
