Jammu and Kashmir: Two Militants and a Junior Commissioned Officer were among the five army soldiers who lost their lives in three different firefights in Jammu Kashmir on Monday.
In the wee hours Security Forces had an intelligence lead that few militants are hiding in Jahin village of Bandipora district in Northern region of Kashmir Valley. Soon after this, a joint operation was launched by Special Operation Group of J&K Police, CRPF and Army.
As the forces encircled one of the suspect spot, the hiding militant fired upon the searching party triggering an encounter which later on led to elimination of one local Militant Imtiyaz Dar, who according to IG Police Kashmir Vijay Kumar was having sharp hand in recent killing of a Cab driver at Shahgund Bandipora past week.
In yet another Operation, One unidentified militant has been killed in a specific operation by joint forces in far-flung village of Verinag in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district. Police Sources said that On a vital leads, Police went to pick up an Over Ground Worker if Militant Outfit. As soon as police party approached towards suspected spot, the hiding militant fired which eventually led to a fierce exchange of fire in which one militant was killed and one Cop was injured.
Meanwhile, Five soldiers including a Junior Commissioned Officer were killed in an encounter that is going on in Chamrer forest area of Surankote area of Poonch district of Jammu.
Defence PRO based in Jammu said that one JCO and four soldiers sustained bullet injuries in heavy exchange of fire in Chamrer woods of Surankote. All the injured were evacuated to army hospital for treatment where they succumbed. Sources said that It is believed that the three to four heavily armed militants are present in the area. The operation is still in progress.
