New Delhi: The killing of a tailor in Udaipur sparked a political blame game as BJP and Congress traded allegations over law and order failure in Rajasthan. While BJP blamed Ashok Gehlot-led government for the break down of law and order in the city, the Chief Minister alleged deliberate attempts to create disharmony in the state.

Terming the incident as sad, Gehlot appealed to all parties to work towards harmony. He also targeted the Centre saying, “This is because the country situation has been spoilt by Modi’s men.”

Expressing shock and grief over the murder, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said, “I am deeply shocked by the heinous murder in Udaipur. Brutalism in the name of religion cannot be tolerated. Those who spread terror due to this cruelty should be punished immediately. We all have to defeat hate together. I appeal to all, please maintain peace and brotherhood.”

Condemning the murder, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi said, “I condemn the gruesome murder in Udaipur Rajasthan. There can be no justification for it. Our party’s consistent stand is to oppose such violence. No one can take law in their own hands. We demand that the state government takes strictest possible action. Rule of law must be upheld.”

Congress leader Supriya Shrinate said, “Perpetrators of the horrific Udaipur crime are dreaded terrorists, I am certain that strictest punishment will be meted out by Shri @ashokgehlot51 ji’s govt. Religious fundamentalism of any kind only stokes hatred and must be condemned by one and all. Appeal for peace everywhere.”

Hitting out at the state government, BJP leader Rajyavardhan Rathore said, “Congress government’s appeasement politics have made a Taliban in the state. The state govt is incompetent, they’re sitting idle. Mentally, the CM only stays in Delhi and state’s people face repercussions.”
