New Delhi: An alleged video that shows SUVs hitting farmers, has emerged on social media platforms and since has become viral after it was circulated by many users on various platforms. The video allegedly shows that slogan-shouting farmers, being hit by at least two SUVs, one after the other, in Lakhimpur Kheri.
The video, which has been widely circulated, is yet to be verified by the police. India Ahead cannot verify its authenticity. From the visuals, it is not yet clear who was driving the car that mowed down farmers there.
While talking to India Ahead correspondent, the eyewitnesses said that the peaceful march of the farmers was disrupted by speeding cars Tikunia Village, Lakhimpur Kheri. One of the eyewitnesses, Dharmendra Singh, claims that the procession was peaceful as they were told that the Minister’s convoy was using another road. Later two SUVs sped through the village and farmers were mowed down by cars in Tikunia village.
The Lakhimpur Kheri incident has heated up the political battleground of the Hindi heartland. Farmers in the area alleged that one of the four farmers was shot dead by Union Minister of State for Home Ajay Mishra Teni’s son, while the others have been allegedly run over by the vehicles of his convoy.
Meanwhile, refuting SKM’s allegations, MoS Teni said that his son was not present at the spot, adding that some miscreants merged with protesting farmers and pelted the stones on the car which lead to the ‘unfortunate incident’.
