New Delhi: After senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad on Friday resigned from the primary leadership of the party, blaming Rahul Gandhi for “demolishing the consultative mechanism” in the party, Congress posted an old video of Rahul Gandhi in which he said that the party needs “fearless people”.

“There are many people outside Congress who are not scared, bring them in and the people in the party who are scared, throw them out. You people can go, you people belong to RSS, go enjoy, we don’t need you. We need fearless people, that is our ideology.”, Rahul Gandhi said in the video.

In a big blow to the Congress party, veteran party leader Ghulam Nabi Azad has resigned from the primary membership. Azad was the Union Health Minister during the UPA-2 era. “The Indian National Congress has lost both the will and the ability under the tutelage of the conterie that runs the AICC to fight for what is right for India,” wrote Azad in his resignation letter to Sonia Gandhi.

“It is therefore with great regret and an extremely leaden heart that I have decided to sever my half-a century-old association with the Indian National Congress,” wrote Azad in a 5 page resignation letter.

After his resignation, Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit wrote a letter to Ghulam Nabi Azad. In the letter Dikshit wrote, “After reading your resignation I felt that this is a hoax. All of us G 23 people talked about reforms in the party and not revolt”.

According to the reports, many leaders of G-23 will meet Ghulam Nabi Azad at his residence today. In a hard-hitting 5 page note to party interim president Sonia Gandhi, Azad claimed that a coterie runs the party while she was just a nominal head and all the major decisions were taken by “Shri Rahul Gandhi or rather worse his security guards and PAs”

The development comes days after Azad resigned from the organisational post of Jammu and Kashmir.
