Bengaluru: Amid rising cases of coronavirus in Bengaluru, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) issued an advisory to housing societies and apartment complexes announcing strict precautionary measures to curb the spread of infection in the city.
The advisory issued by BBMP stated that an entire apartment complex should be declared ‘Containment Zone’ for a minimum of 7 days in case more than three COVID-19 cases are found in the complex. It further directed that all residents should be tested and detailed contact tracing and surveillance should be done.
Further the advisory stated the following measures need to be taken by the housing societies, apartment complexes:
1.All the residents, house helps and visitors need to be checked for temperature, masks at the entry gates and shall be provided hand rubs, sanitizers.
2.Common areas of the society like floors, lifts, stairs railings exposed surfaces shall be cleaned using bleaching powder, sodium Hydrochloride or any other good disinfectant to maintain the level of hygiene.
3.Other common areas such as parks, walkways etc shall be used for walking, jogging, cycling but keeping the COVID-19 Appropriate Behavior (CAB) like using masks, maintaining social distance. These areas shall not be used for socialising, gatherings.
4.Use of gyms, sport complex, swimming pools etc shall be avoided. Operations and allowed numbers shall be according to the instructions of GOI and GOK.
5.Parents are advised to counsel children regarding COVID-19 so that they can understand and follow the restrictions to curb the infections.
6.Wearing of masks by kids shall be ensured by the parents and association members.
7.Community shall cooperate with the Public Health Authority for regular testing, vaccination, containment, survey and other COVID-19 related activities.
8.Testing of all population within the containment zone is mandatory if symptomatic.
