HC Directs Karnataka To Follow SOPs Banning Rallies, Protests, Political Gatherings, This Came After Mekedatu Padytra Chaos

Ruling came in after all the covid-19 cases surge that state is noticing recently and Mekedatu padyatra chaos and all political blame game happening in the state.

Bengaluru: Karnataka High Court on Thursday directs the state government to strictly execute the SoPs issued on January 4, 2022 in the districts of Karnataka & ensure the prohibition of any rallies, dharnas, or any other political gatherings.

This came in after all the covid-19 cases surge that state is noticing recently and Mekedatu padyatra chaos and all political blame game happening in the state. In a recent update early morning today Karnataka Health Minister K Sudhakar slammed congress for organising the Mekedatu Padyatra.

A division bench of Chief Justice Ritu Raj Awasthi and Justice Suraj Govindaraj also took on record the statement made by the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee that it has temporarily suspended the 10-day padayatra demanding implementation of the Mekedatu project across the Cauvery river, as reported by Live Law.

Cases in Karnataka are rising and amid rising cases of coronavirus, On Thursday Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) issued an advisory to housing societies and apartment complexes announcing strict precautionary measures to curb the spread of infection in the city.

The advisory issued by BBMP stated that an entire apartment complex should be declared ‘Containment Zone’ for a minimum of 7 days in case more than three COVID-19 cases are found in the complex. It further directed that all residents should be tested and detailed contact tracing and surveillance should be done.
