New Delhi: A viral video has been doing the rounds on social media where a Mangalore policeman nabbed a mobile phone thief following a dramatic chase in the city. On Wednesday, 3 men had snatched a mobile phone near Nehru Maidan. After a relentless chase through narrow lanes & wide roads, the policeman finally caught the criminal.

A probe further revealed that the accused operated in Mangalore city and have been involved in several thefts and robberies.

Following this, the Mangaluru City Police Commissioner on Thursday announced Rs 10,000 cash reward for Assistant Sub-Inspector Varun Alva and felicitated him.

Users across Twitter reacted to the viral video. While one said “good effort by our hero. Should be recognised”, another wrote “Mangalore Singham !!”

Another Twitter user wrote: “the way this police officers ran for the theif to catch was mind blowing when i saw this clip on bangalore360 website at first i thought it was a film shoot but this was real one police chasing the theif. hats off to this police officers for their good efforts.”

Another user wanted to salute the officer and wrote “Salute to such Officer who prove nothing is above Law & order when it comes on safety on citizens. No words Hon’ble Sir. I stand to salute.”

Recently, a team of Coastal Police & Colaba Police rescued a woman tourist who was drowning in the sea near Gateway of India, Mumbai. The woman lost control and fell into the water after a strong ocean current hit her boat. She was later rescued by the city police.
