Former AIADMK leader VK Sasikala hints at returning to politics

Chennai: Former All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) leader VK Sasikala dropped major hints of making a comeback to active politics after the coronavirus pandemic gets over.

Chennai: Former All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) leader VK Sasikala dropped major hints of making a comeback to active politics after the coronavirus pandemic gets over. In an audio clip of a phone conversation between Sasikala and one of the party cadres, which went massively viral on social media, the expelled AIADMK cam be heard confirming her plans of her return to politics.

This comes right after AIADMK lost power in Tamil Nadu assembly elections to Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK). The above-mentioned telephonic conversation has also been verified by Janarthanan, the personal assistant for AMMK General Secretary TTV Dinakaran.

“Do not worry, surely will sort out the party things. All be brave ok. Once corona pandemic ends, I will come,” Sasikala can be heard telling the cadre during the phone call.

“We will be behind you Amma,” the cadre is heard replying to her.

Aide of late Chief Minister Jayalalithaa, Sasikala Natarajan was released from Bangalore Parapana Jail on January 27 after four years in prison. On February 14, 2017, VK Sasikala was convicted and sentenced to 4 years sentence for the Rs 66 crore disproportionate assets case.

Her return to the state started a political storm after she approached the court with a fresh application against current Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami and Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam to reclaim the AIADMK symbol.

On March 3, Sasikala announced that she had quit politics. In her statement, she said, “When Amma was alive they were like a sister implementing the idea, and I am the same after she passed away.”

She added that she will stay away from active politics and urged AIADMK workers to support the party.
