Tamil Nadu Election Results 2021: DMK in lead, AIADMK close second

Chennai: The early trends continued to suggest a clear victory for the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) combine over the ruling All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) front as counting of votes continues for the Tamil Nadu Assembly Polls on Sunday.

Chennai: The early trends continued to suggest a clear victory for the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) combine over the ruling All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) front as counting of votes continues for the Tamil Nadu Assembly Polls on Sunday.

The DMK combine is currently leading in 111 Assembly constituencies. Meanwhile, the AIADMK is ahead in 94 seats, as per the trends provided by the Election Commission (EC) for 206 till 11 am.

Winning 118 of the total 234 constituencies will guarantee a simple majority.

TN Chief Minister and top AIADMK leaders, K Palaniswami, is comfortably leading in his home segment of Edappadi in Salem district. Meanwhile, Deputy CM O Panneerselvam is currently trailing his rival, DMK’s Thanga Tamilselvan, by a thin margin.

M K Stalin, opposition leader and DMK president, was leading from the Kolathur constituency, with his son and party youth wing secretary Udhayanidhi Stalin continues to be ahead from Chepauk-Triplicane.

Meamwhile, the fortunes of Jayakumar and Haasan kept swinging as votes were taken up for counting from numerous areas and currently, Haasan is in the lead lead.

DMK’s key leaders M R K Panneerselvam (Kurinjipadi) and Duraimurugan (Katpadi) are still trailing, AIADMK leader and Minister Kadambur C Raju in Kovilpatti, while Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam chief TTV Dhinakaran was also behind his rival.

As of 11 am, top ministers in the lead are S P Velumani, Sellur Raju, M C Sampath, M R Vijayabaskar, C Vijayabaskar and Udumalaipettai K Radhakrishnan.

Meanwhile, Ministers including D Jayakumar, K Pandiarajan, P Benjamin, K T Rajendthra Bhalaji, Vellamandi N Natarajan and C V Shanmugam are all currently trailing.
