Chennai: Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) chief MK Stalin thanked the people of Tamil Nadu for his party-led alliance emerged victorious in the 2021 Assembly polls. Stalin also informed that his swearing-in ceremony would be organised in a straightforward manner amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic across the country.
“I would like to express my gratitude to the people of Tamil Nadu for giving the coalition a huge victory in the election. We will gradually fulfill our specific election promises,” Stalin said.
He added, “We are going to hold the swearing-in ceremony in a simple manner because the impact of the Covid-19 is high. I will announce the date tomorrow or the day after tomorrow.”
Speaking about when he would assume office as Chief Ministerwhen, Stalin revealed that there were several constituencies where the candidates who emerged as winners have not received their election certificates and that this process was expected to be completed by Monday.
Meanwhile on Tuesday, a meeting of elected MLAs is scheduled where the Legislature Party Leader would be formally elected and following discussions with government officials, the final date and time of assuming office will be decided and it shall be made known, Stalin added.
The people of Tamil Nadu have given a mammoth win for the DMK-led Secular Progressive Alliance in the Assembly polls, the DMK chief said while thanking all those who worked towards it.
According to the Election Commission (EC)’s latest trends, the DMK has already secured 97 seats and is leading on 35 in the 234-member assembly.
While AIADMK won 46 seats and is leading from 21, its ally BJP bagged just three seats and is leading on one. The Paattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) won four seats and is still leading on one. DMK’s ally Congress has been victorious from 3 seats and is leading on 13 more.
