New Delhi: Cricket Australia (CA) on Monday (May 17) announced their preliminary squad for the upcoming tour of West Indies. Australia will Paly West Indies in five T20s and three ODIs which will give the ample limited overs cricket to prepare for the upcoming T20 World Cup.

CA have named a strong squad which include star players such as David Warner, Steve Smith, Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood.

These players were absent from the previous series which they lost 3-2 against New Zealand.

“Having players of that calibre back in the squad is critical to the build-up to the T20 World Cup and refining the balance of the team over the coming months,” said National Selector Trevor Hohns.

Over the exclusion of Marnus Labuschagne Hohns said, “Anyone who knows Marnus understands he would give absolutely anything to play for Australia and he is deeply upset to miss out due to circumstances beyond anyone’s control.”

With Starc, Hazlewood and Cummins back in the squad the fight for the remaining fast bowlers slot is sure to get tough with Kane Richardson, Jhye Richardson, Andrew Tye Riley Meredith and Jason Behrendorff all vying for a spot.
