New Delhi: England attacker Jude Bellingham created history as he became the youngest player ever to play at the Euros when he was subbed on for Harry Kane in the Three Lions’ first game against Croatia at Euro 2020. Bellingham broke the record set by the Netherlands’ left-back Jetro Willems.
The Borussia Dortmund player made his debut at the age of 17 years, 11 months, and 15 days.
However, his record could still be broken by Kacper Kozlowski of Poland who is 109 days younger than Bellingham if he makes his debut in the tournament.
Bellingham would now be looking to break the record of being the youngest goalscorer which is currently held by Johan Vonlanthen of Switzerland.
His debut also marked a victory for his team, who defeated Croatia 1-0 in their first game of the Euro 2020.
Raheem Sterling scored the only goal after being put through on goal by a neat pass from Kalvin Phillips.
The match was a dull affair with few clear-cut chances for both teams.
England moved to the top of the group with the win while the other match between Scotland and the Czech Republic will take place on Monday.
