New Delhi: New Zealand on Wednesday (June 2) will face England in the first Test at Lord’s in a two match series. The Kiwis will play the Test series just before their clash with India in the World Test Championship (WTC) final. Kane Williamson’s men will be looking to had a fruitful series against England before they take on Virat Kohli’s men for the Test championship crown.
The blackcaps will also like to use these two matches to get better suited to the English pitches.
Meanwhile, England who failed to qualify for the final after losing to India 3-1 in the Test series held in February-March will be looking to beat both the finalists as after they will also face India in a five match Test series post the WTC final.
New Zealand have confirmed that Devon Conway will make his debut in the longest form of the game on Wednesday. Elsewhere, the team is supposed to remain the same with only the bowling line up selection not certain.
The visitors have two options wither they can go with the fast bowling quartet of Matt Henry, Kyle Jamieson, Tim Southee, and Neil Wagner or can drop Henry for left arm spinner Mitchell Santner.
Trent Boult is not in the squad as he has taken some time off before the WTC final.
Meanwhile, England will be without star all rounder Ben Stokes who was injured in the Indian Premier League (IPL). It means that they will have to add a fast bowler to account for the absence of Stoke’s bowling.
James Bracey will be making his debut for the Three Lions.
England also face the same question in the bowling department with pacer Mark Wood and spinner Jack Leach competing for the same spot.
