New Delhi: One Olympics concerned personnel and a contractor and a journalist tested positive for Covid-19 on Monday a day after three sports persons tested positive. The Olympics personnel was based in Chiba while the journalist was under a 14-day quarantine in Tokyo after travelling to Japan to cover the Olympics.
The Olympic organising committee released the list of three persons in its daily Covid-19 bulletin.
With these additions, the Covid-19 cases-related cases have risen to 58.
On Sunday, three sports persons tested positive whose names were not revealed by the Olympic committee.
However, the South African Football Federation released a statement that confirmed that two of the players who had tested were from South Africa.
As many as 10 cases were detected on the day, including five “Games concerned personnel”, one contractor, and a journalist, according to Coronavirus Positive Case List uploaded by the OC.
On Saturday, a non-athlete at the Village tested positive for the highly contagious Coronavirus.
IOC Games Operations Director Pierre Ducrey, however, insisted that there is no cause for concern at this moment.
“The participants of the Olympic Games are the most controlled population in the world,” he declared on Sunday.
The first batch of athletes from the Indian contingent has already checked in at the village.
