Chennai: Rajinikanthwill meet office bearers of the Rajini Makkal Mandram on Monday (July 12) for the first time after stepping down from politics last year.
This will mark his first interaction after deciding not to contest last assembly polls.
Rajnikanth was to reveal the date of the launch his political party in January 2021, but announced he would not take the electoral plunge citing health concerns and the Covid-19 pandemic.
On December 2020, Rajinikanth announced that he will not be launching his political party
In a three-page statement that he posted on Twitter, the actor apologised for not launching the party.
“Only I know the pain of announcing this decision,” he said, adding that he will serve people without entering electoral politics.
He said that he doesn’t want to make the people who believe in him feel like a scapegoat, however, his recent health conditions have come as a warning.
Rajinikanth further said, “I see this as a warning given to me by the Lord. If I campaigned only through the media and social media after I started the party, I would not be able to create the political upheaval among people and win big in the elections. No one with political experience will deny this reality.”
Rajinikanth said that he doesn’t want to start something and let it go halfway through and that his health doesn’t permit him to enter politics at this juncture and hence says he wants to refrain from starting the party.

The decision came after he was discharged from a hospital in Hyderabad where he was undergoing treatment after suffering from high blood pressure, severe hypertension and exhaustion.
The actor had been advised to take complete bed rest.
