Former Union Minister P Chidambaram on Sunday engaged in a bitter exchange with a Congress functionary during a consultation meeting of the party in Sivaganga district.
The former finance minister has been touring Sivaganga district, holding discussions and consultations with the Congress party workers.
While Chidambaram was presiding over a meeting in Maana Madurai area, district committee functionary Pandivel expressed his angst over several issues and complained about the lack of efforts by the leadership to strengthen the party in the area.
Following Pandivel’s outburst, Chidambaram asked him to let others speak, furthering angering the party functionary.
This led to an argument between Chidambaram and the party functionary and at one point he walked up to the party worker and asked him to conduct the meeting.
