New Delhi: A prototype flying car in Slovakia completed a 35-minute test flight between two cities. According to a press release, Klein Vision’s AirCar flew from Nitra to Bratislava, the nation’s capital. The car is fitted with a 160 horsepower BMW engine and has a fixed propeller.
Klein Vision said that the prototype has completed 40 hours of testing and has flown at an altitude of 8,200 feet with a maximum speed of 190 kilometres.
The prototype converted itself from a plane to a car in three minutes after landing in Bratislava.
From there, the car was driven into the city center by Stefan Klein, Klein Vision CEO, and Anton Zajac, company co-founder.
“This flight starts a new era of dual transportation vehicles. It opens a new category of transportation and returns the freedom originally attributed to cars back to the individual,” said Professor Klein.
“AirCar is no longer just a proof of concept; flying at 8,200ft at a speed of 100kt, it has turned science fiction into a reality,” added Zajac.
They added that another pre-production model called the AirCar Prototype 2AirCar Prototype 2 will be fitted with a 300 HP engine and will receive the European Aviation Safety Agency SC-23 certification which is given to normal, utility, aerobatic, and commuter category aeroplanes along with an M1 road permit.
The Air Car Two is expected to reach speeds of 300 kilometers and will have a flight range of 1000 kilometers.
