New Delhi: National Technology Day is celebrated every year on May 11. The day acts as a reminder of the nation’s technological advancements.

National Technology Day History

On May 11, 1998, India successfully fired an Operation Shakti missile at the Indian Army’s Pokhran Test Range in Rajasthan. The test was led by aerospace scientist and Former Indian President Late Dr APJ Abdul Kalam. Later, Former Indian PM Late Prime Minister Atal Bihari Bajpayee declared India as a nuclear state. This made India the sixth country to join the nuclear club of nations.

Since then, May 11 is celebrated as National Technology Day in India. Former Indian PM Late Atal Bihari Vajpayee coined the term to honour the contributions made by scientists.

The aim behind celebrating National Technology Day is to highlight the achievements of our scientists and engineers in the field of science and technology. The day also serves as a reminder for people to understand the importance of technological development.
