Hyderabad: Kaushik Reddy former Congress leader, after his resignation from Telangana Congress, on Wednesday, may have received a warm welcome after joining the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi party– but soon after his switch, he landed on the receiving end of the citizen’s ire on Thursday.

Reddy had on July 13 submitted his resignation from the party to the AICC President Sonia Gandhi after an audio clip of him surfaced in which he is heard saying that the Huzurabad by-election ticket has been confirmed to him by the TRS party.

On Wednesday he joined the ruling TRS party in the presence of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao. Reddy, to mark this occasion, went all out and plastered posters, banners, flags and hoardings with him and KCR in Jubilee Hills, Banjarahills, Gachibowli, Kachiguda and Kondapur areas.

Hyderabadis irked by this display, took to Twitter and raised complaints with the Enforcement, Vigilance & Disaster Management wing of GHMC. The citizens demanded action against the new TRS leader Padi Kaushik for defacing the city.

Soon after, as a reaction, GHMC slapped fines amounting to Rs 10 lakh on Kaushik Reddy under the sections of 420/ 421 of the GHMC act.

The GHMC officials have now deployed various teams to remove the publicity paraphernalia. But the citizens, clearly still angry, are now demanding more stringent punitive action on Kaushik Reddy.

Kaushik Reddy, cousin of former PCC president Uttam Kumar Reddy, resigned from Congress after an audio clip went viral about him getting a TRS ticket for Huzurabad by-poll.

Kaushik who contested from Huzurabad in 2018 on Congress ticket lost the election to Eatala Rajendra.

The constituency is going for a by-poll after Eatala resigned to TRS after a fallout with CM KCR.

TRS so far has not named its candidate for Huzurabad by-poll.
