New Delhi: Audio leaks, allegations and counter-allegations – big political drama is unfolding in Telangana Congress ahead of the by-polls. Kaushik Reddy Padi who contested from Huzurabad in 2018 on Congress ticket has now kicked up a storm.

A purported telephonic conversation allegedly of Kaushik Reddy and an unnamed Congress local leader was leaked online on Monday, which went viral. In the audio clip– Kaushik Reddy is allegedly heard saying that his ticket is confirmed by TRS and he would be joining the party soon.

In the audio translation of the alleged conversation, Kaushik Reddy is heard saying, “My TRS ticket has been confirmed for Huzurabad by-poll. How many people are there? Bring them all to our side and join TRS. Pay them Rs 2,000, 3000 or 5,000 for their expenses, and take care of the boys. Let them come to our side and I will take care of you”.

Soon after the leaked audio clip went viral, Congress Disciplinary Action Committee Chairman Konda Reddy issued a show-cause notice to Kaushik Reddy asking him to explain the purported audio clip and him joining TRS.

Kaushik Reddy was asked to explain whether he was indulging in any anti-party activities. Soon, Telangana Congress members voiced their opinion to suspend Kaushik Reddy.

Meanwhile, without replying to the show cause notice, Kaushik Reddy called for a press conference where he announced his resignation and went on to accuse Telangana Congress in-charge and Virudanagar MP Manickam Tagore.

He alleges that Manickam Tagore made Revanth Reddy the PCC president after he paid Rs 50 crores for the post. He also said that no senior leader in Congress is happy with Revanth’s appointment.

According to Reddy, senior leaders like Bhatti Vikramarka, Damodara Rajanarasimha, D Sridhar Babu, Komati Reddy are not satisfied by Revanth’s appointment.

Kaushik Reddy also said that audio leak is not a big issue and things happen in politics. In the entire press conference, he didn’t deny that it wasn’t his voice in the leaked audio clip.

“An election is coming he (Manickam Tagore) is not at all bothered. He took Rs 50 crores and made Revanth Reddy PCC president. Not everyone might say it, but it is an open secret, all congress leaders know, everyone including the media knows this,” said Reddy during the press conference on Monday.

Manickam Tagore refused to comment on the issue but tweeted that his lawyer will send a defamation notice and case will be filed in Madurai Court.

“Those who’re loyal to KCR always throw false allegations on me because my primary duty is to defeat TRS. My lawyers will issue notice for defamation and the complaint will be registered in Madurai. Welcome to Madurai Court,” tweeted AICC Telangana in-charge Manickam Tagore on Monday.

Former PCC president and Nalgonda MP Uttam Kumar Reddy’s office released a statement condemning the allegations leveled by Kaushik Reddy and also said the party will be suspending him. Interestingly, Kaushik Reddy who is Uttam Kumar Reddy’s cousin met TRS Working President and Minister KTR at a function. Kaushik Reddy at that point in time had said it was an accidental meeting at a function and had nothing to do with politics.
