A day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s public meeting in Hyderabad, Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) leader M Krishank took to Twitter to share a video where BJP workers were seen physically assaulting members of the Madiga Reservation Porata Samithi (MRPS), at the venue of PM Modi’s address.

The MRPS workers were reported to have been holding placards reminding the PM Modi about his promise to fulfil their long-standing demand of the categorisation of the Scheduled Castes. “Strongly condemn this attack by BJP party workers at Parade Grounds on Dalits who were showing placards reminding Modi ji’s promise of SC Categorisation,” tweeted Krishank, who is also the Social Media convenor of the TRS.

MRPS is a community organisation of the Madigas, which is said to be one of the largest SC communities in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Over the last two decades, the MRPS has been leading several agitations demanding the categorisation of the SC reservation quota in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and other Indian states. Earlier, on Sunday, the police had taken around 15 MRPS activists into custody after they were seen raising slogans and carrying banners demanding for the categorisation of SC’s.

PM Modi, in his address, on Sunday referred to Hyderabad as Bhagyanagar and said that the campaign to unite India was initiated by Sardar Vallabhai Patel from Bhagyanagar. He also said that the time’s up for dynasty politics, which was a jibe at Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao.
