67th National Film Awards: Dhanush, Kangana Ranaut, Manoj Bajpayee Awarded Top Acting Honors

The 67th National Film Awards were presented today, October 25, in Delhi by Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu.

New Delhi: The 67th National Film awards were presented by Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu on Monday morning. The awards were announced in March 2021, honoring the best in cinema in 2019 but were postponed due to the pandemic. While actor Rajinikanth was conferred with 51st Dadasaheb Phalke Award, Manoj Bajpayee, Kangana Ranaut and Dhanush won acting honours.

Priyadarshan’s Malayalam period epic Marakkar: Lion of the Arabian Sea won the Best Feature Film while Chhichhore, starring the late Sushant Singh Rajput, was presented the Best Hindi Film award. The 67th National Film awards were announced in March 2021 but honoured the best in cinema in 2019. The awards were postponed due to the pandemic.

Nitesh Tiwari and Sajid Nadiadwala arrived at the National Film Awards’ ceremony in Delhi. Nitesh remembered the film’s lead actor Sushant Singh Rajput on the occasion and dedicated the award to him. He said, “Sushant was an integral part of the film, and he will continue to be so. We are very proud. I am sure he will be proud too.”

The winner list was announced in March this year with late actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s film Chhichhore winning the Best Hindi Film award and Kangana Ranaut winning her third Best Actress prize for her performances in Manikarnika (2019) and Panga (2020). Manoj Bajpayee and Dhanush share the Best Actor award for their respective roles in Bhonsle and Asuran, which also won Best Tamil Film award.

Union Minister for Information Broadcasting Anurag Thakur and Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting L Murugan are among the other senior dignitaries attending the ceremony.
