When Pushpak Sen, a fashion student, went to his grandmother wearing one of her sarees, she said that he looks “fabulous and fierce.” Sen feels that if a 100-year-old lady can be so accepting of a man wearing a saree, it’s time that everyone does the same.
His saree journey began in his hometown Kolkata, by initially draping the nine yards as a dhoti. He then went on to draping it in the conventional style. He now knows multiple draping methods and loves wearing it often.
The saree hold a deeper meaning for him as he’s studying in Italy presently, and he says that every time he wears one, he feels proud to be representing his heritage and his culture.
Even though trolling is common, he chooses to laugh it off. “It’s my saree, and my choice to wear one, what is their business in it?” he says.
Watch to know more about his journey.
