Bihar Floods: Houses Collapse, Cremation Grounds Swamped In Bihar’s Muzaffarpur

Heavy rainfall in Bihar has triggered floods in various districts of the state. The Burhi Gandak river flowing above the danger mark is causing havoc in the Muzaffarpur district. Villages have been submerged and houses have collapsed.

Amid the ongoing crisis, people point at the irregularities in the claims made by the district administration and the reality on the ground.

Due to the continuous increase in the water level of the Burhi Gandak river, problems have increased at the cremation ground located in the urban area of Muzaffarpur.

The rising water level has left the cremation area and the wood sold for cremation swamped with floodwater.

Shops dealing with wood materials have also been flooded and shopkeepers around are certainly bearing the brunt of heavy downpour.

When asked about the whole matter, Mayor of the Municipal Corporation Suresh Kumar said that problems have increased due to a continuous increase in the water level of the river.

If the flood situation continues to be grim, performing cremation at this crematorium in Muzaffarpur can become even more difficult.
