Amidst the second wave of Covid 19, a city-based NGO in Bhopal, in association with the district administration and the National Council for Science and Technology Communication started a unique campaign to encourage people to get the vaccine jab.
“While we travel, we keep looking at the vehicles in front of us and beside us, and sometimes we read the slogans written on them. So, I got this idea from there. I thought the fear that is there regarding vaccines in the villages and cities can be removed by encouraging them to get vaccinated,” said Dr Monica Jain, Chairperson, Search and Research Development Society.
Several trucks, autos, tractors, and cars were painted in bright colors with cheeky slogans. The slogans included “Main khubsoorat hun, mujhe nazar na lagana; zindagi bhar sath dungi, vaccine jaroor lagwana” (I am beautiful, don’t cast an evil eye on me; I will be with you forever, if you go for vaccination), and “Vaccine lagwao, corona ko harao” (get vaccinated, corona will lose).
More than 50 trucks, autos, tractors, and other vehicles were painted under this initiative. The campaign was launched on June 2 and the response of vehicle owners was encouraging. They even selected different slogans for their vehicles.
“If we explain something and write it on the back of a vehicle like a truck, tractors, or cars. They travel across the city, across the country. In this manner, we can spread the message to more and more people. Vaccination has no side effects and it is the only way out of this virus,” said Dr Jain.
