An environmental activist has come up with an unique solution to save trees. Virendra Singh has been pasting photos of Gods on trees to save them from felling for a proposed road project in Balod, Chhatisgarh. The activist popularly known as the Green commando in the village said that the project will lead to felling of atleast 2,900 trees.
The Public Works Department had proposed a contract to construct a bypass road from Tarod to Daihan that may lead to cutting of more than 2900 trees. However, the people in the village have accused the administration of misleading them by telling wrong statistics. According to the villagers, more than 20,000 trees are on the verge of being cut due to the developmental project.
From making poster banners to tying Raksha Sutras and now to sticking pictures of Lord Shiva, the environmental enthusiasts are doing everything they can to raise their voices.
